TUTORIAL II: Animating The Beatles
Add to EJ Playlist Looooong overdue, but here's a tutorial on how the Todd McFarlane Beatles figures are animated for the videos you see on this channel. This tutorial focuses on the mouths and the blinking eyes. |
BEATLES COVER: "Michelle"
Add to EJ Playlist This is NOT the Beatles performing; it is, in fact, my High School choir group performing an arrangement of "Michelle" from the Beatles' 1965 RUBBER SOUL album. I only recently dug this performance up. Forgot I had it. This recording got the RAF Remix treatment. The sound of the original was good, but the sound is now enhanced (double-tracked with the second recording's audio swapped). |
MCCARTNEE ANIMATIONS 2: The Wrath of Palin
Add to EJ Playlist Second animation done 2 years ago using GoAnimate's free program. This is the shortened version of the video. I like how it ended better - that awkward silence. This is still awful. You may get this better if you're a Star Trek fan. |
THE BEATLES RARE AUDIO: Can't Buy Me Love (Takes 2 and 3)
Add to EJ Playlist A double-whammy here for everyone - "Can't Buy Me Love" take 2 and take 3. "A Hard Day's Night" is next! |
PREVIEW: Yellow Submarine - The Director's Cut
Add to EJ Playlist The original "Beatles Animated" version on this channel was blocked in over 250 different countries (due to serious copyright issues with the music and the art) INCLUDING the U.S.A. As time went by and my skills improved, I hated the old version more and more. Found it only fitting to remake it as I did the first 3. The new, completed version will be available only for limited engagements. I do not want the video pulled again. I'm hoping I alleviated some of the danger by creating my own backgrounds. SHOW DATES (All Day): February 3 February 14 March 1 More dates to be announced. The video will be available for viewing permanently at a later time. |
The British Invasion: "Come Together" - live at Epcot Center!
Add to EJ Playlist Found this footage in an old SD memory card of my trip to Florida in 2011. Here's The British Invasion performing "Come Together" about an hour before the park's grand finale. This was my first time seeing The British Invasion. They are a unique cover band, as they performed songs by The Animals, Herman's Hermits, and others from that era while maintaining the look and sound of The Beatles. I was surprised to see all the Beatles memorabilia for sale at the Epcot Center gift shop. I didn't buy anything, but was very excited and curious to see a Beatles cover band playing at the park. The guy who plays George looks like Paul. The others have the mannerisms of their respective Beatle down, though. I don't think these guys are as good as 1964, but 1964 have never played this song (as far as I know.) It was a good performance. I only recorded the opening song. |
BEATLES RARE AUDIO: "Please, Please Me" on Here We Go!
Add to EJ Playlist The Beatles performing "Please, Please Me" on the BBC's "Here We Go" radio show on February, 1963. Hang tight! There's more rare Beatles or Beatles-related material to post! |
BEATLES RARE AUDIO - "Across The Universe" (version 4)
Add to EJ Playlist The elusive take 4 (or VERSION 4) of "Across The Universe." |
BEATLES ANIMATED: "Long, Long, Long"
Add to EJ Playlist The first new video on the first hour of the first day in 2013! George Harrison's "Long Long Long." The hauntingly beautiful "Long Long Long" was written by Harrison and recorded on October 7, 8, and 9, 1968 for release on the double-album, "The Beatles," more commonly known as "The White Album" for its stark, white cover. "Long Long Long" was performed by: George Harrison: Vocals, lead guitar Paul McCartney: Bass guitar Ringo Starr: Drums, tambourine Chris Thomas: Organ, electric piano Of the four songs penned by Harrison for "The White Album," John Lennon only contributed to "Piggies." The song is written about George's new-found relationship with God, who is referred to as "you." The lyrics completely conceal any indication of the song's religious undertones. George adopted Hinduism as his religion. Therefore, several Hindu symbols appear throughout the video. They include: A statue of Shiva; a lotus flower, the elephant God, Ganesha; Vishnu; the universal Om symbol; and the swastika. The dancing mask is NOT a part of any known religion, but it is reminiscent of images seen in Hindu art. ***** DISCLAIMER ***** Please note that there is, indeed, a swastika in the video. Please do your research before posting any criticism for its appearance. The "right-sided" swastika, in Hinduism, was a sign of prosperity, luck, and long life. The "arms" of the symbol are separated by dots. It should NOT be confused - or compared to, the common swastika. I had second thoughts of putting it on the video, but I wanted to represent the Hindu religion with respect to its symbols and beliefs. For those who slam me for using the symbol, I researched it prior to adding it in. Try it sometime. ********** VIDEO FACTS: * This is the first HD video! * The audio track has been remixed for true stereo sound. All instruments and vocals come out of all speakers, and with a .011ths of a second delay for reverb. * It took only 77 pictures to be created, manipulated, and animated for this video. * My love for this song prompted me to remix the audio. My version of the song inspired me to make a video for it. * Production commenced on 12.15.12., just three days after the 2012 Christmas Special was completed and posted on Youtube. * The video was completed in 5 days. * The faded effect was supposed to represent a lost, whistful, George. Every appearance of him he was supposed to become more visible until the very end, when we'd see him whole, again. This represented George's gradual "rebirth" into and adaptation of Hinduism. * Not once does George reveal his arms. His arms were actually cut out in pre-production so that I could green screen them in, which I never did. * A slightly modified version of this video will be on the DVD. |

BEATLES ANIMATED - "Two Of Us" (Remake)
Add to EJ Playlist "Two Of Us" gets the Director's Cut treatment. The original was made in 2007 by both my daughter and me in an old, abandoned barn one-hundred yards behind the house. I loved the song and liked the idea of the performance in the barn, but never liked the video. Plus, my daughter at the time was too young to understand why she shouldn't show her hands on camera. The hands are STILL THERE in this new version. She's off to college next year, and those little hands have special meaning, now. *I didn't go "all out" with this, since it was a remake. Most of the video contains new footage, but as it was originally a simple video, I wanted to keep it that way. * This video includes my personal remix of the song, to include all instruments on all channels AND a wee bit of reverb. * 237 images were created and manipulated for this remake. Also used was footage from past videos and some footage left from the original 2007 version. |

The Beatles 2012 Christmas Special
Add to EJ Playlist Brought to you at 12:00 AM on 12/12/12! THE LAST of the animated Beatles Christmas Specials ever to be put on this channel. Sure to be quite unique compared to the previous ones. Audio comes from various interviews, studio sessions, demos, outtakes, and Sir Paul's most recent recording, "The Christmas Song - Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire." Any MST3K fans watching? Guten tag! WE LOVE GERMANY!! **********VIDEO FACTOIDS******* *** * This video was never going to be made. I made a promise during the summer that if "Revolution" was not completed by November, then all work would be focused on the 2012 Christmas Special. * Revolution is still in pre-production. * The movie playing in the den at the end was going to be of Nat King Cole's version of "Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire". The opening battle in "Star Wars" and the trailer for "Star Trek Into Darkness" were also considered. * The "Chestnuts Roasting..." sequence was a last minute decision. I had tried to stay away from using copyrighted music, but had trouble figuring out how to end the video. * The "Chestnuts Roasting" audio was taken from a video of Paul with Diana Krall in-studio during the recording of the song. The shortened version ensured that production would get completed before the 12.12.12 deadline. * The Mystery Science Theater 3000 reference was a spur-of-the-mom ent idea. I didn't like the idea of the Special ending without The Beatles. * It took 1,348 images to produce this video. Some of which were used in last year's Christmas Special and a couple other videos produced earlier this year. * The audio from the opening sequence is a previously unreleased recording of The Beatles recording a promo for their appearance on "Saturday Club" on the BBC in 1963. * The opening sequence, oddly, did not include any spoken lines for George Harrsion. In fact, some of the dialogue spoken by Paul is NOT really spoken by Paul, but is in fact, the DJ or host of the Saturday Club program. * The photo of the lady holding the babies during George's news segment is my Aunt Francis, who died in 1995. * The audio for Ringo's bit in Los Angeles is taken from a Christmas greeting which Ringo himself posted on his Youtube channel in 2010. His arms are actually mine, which were filmed separately to avoid the tedious process of animating his arms. * This is the first animated video to be completed before its corresponding Preview video was. * Ringo's background in the "Chestnuts Roasting..." sequence is a photograph of the real Ringo at his drums (cleverly hidden behind the toy Ringo) at Abbey Road Studios in 1963. * The Christmas tree topper in the "Imagine" sequence is the head of Mickey Mouse. The sequence was put together the day Disney acquired LucasFilm. The poster (seen at the top of the stairs) was going to be a Star Wars poster, but was replaced by a Beatles poster to avoid distraction. * The "Street Fighter" scene was going to have Ringo and John in a lightsaber duel. * Perhaps the biggest mess-up is during the "Chestnuts Roasting..." scene, where Paul's studio backgrounds are in color, whereas the others' are black and white. The black and white backgrounds were meant to present an intimate setting. * The video sequences are separated into speaking, then musical parts. * "Long Long Long" was going to be the only true Beatles song used in the video. The idea was canned to avoid copyright issues with Youtube. * There is a Yellow Submarine ornament on John's Christmas tree. |

2012 Christmas Introduction Sequence (Animation Test)
Add to EJ Playlist For the opening sequence of the 2012 animated Christmas Special, each Beatle was animated individually and then put in a scene with one other Beatle. They were animated using audio from the Saturday Club introduction outtake, but as they all wouldn't fit in one scene, two scenes were produced, each with two Beatles. Presented here is the entire sequence, twice, from both perspectives. The final cut will consist of both scenes blended together. Less than a month to go! The video is over 4 minutes long, so far! |
BEATLE MEMORIES 4: In Spite of All The Danger (colorized)
Add to EJ Playlist The colored version of "In Spite of All The Danger." the fourth and final video of the Beatle Memories series. The black & white version (not posted on Youtube) includes an additional minute's worth of spoken material. The colorized version exposes several mistakes in outfit colors and animation. Up for a limited time! Enjoy it while you can! It'll be posted for good once the channel closes. |
BEATLES RARE AUDIO: "Saturday Jump" (Outtake)
Add to EJ Playlist Throughout The Beatles' heyday, the group were often guests on Saturday Club on BBC Radio. Presented here is a rare outtake of the Fabs recording a greeting and singing "Saturday Jump," the show's theme song, during their November 29, 1965 recording. They seem to run into a little trouble with the band's drummer, though... There are no other recordings of this posted on Youtube. Look for the animated version on 12.12.12! |
Christmas 2012 Teaser II

PREVIEW: Beatle Memories 4
Add to EJ Playlist NOW IN PRODUCTION: Beatle memories 4 - In Spite of All the Danger A shorty but goodie, this video promises to be a good one and one of the toughest to make! * The version heard here is NOT The Beatles and therefore will NOT be the version on the actual video! And yes, it'll only be available on the DVD. The version on the disc is going through some major overhaul. There may be two versions... |
VIEWER'S CHOICE: What Color? [VOTING CLOSED]
Add to EJ Playlist The fourth and final Beatle Memories video is done. I like both color and black & white versions. Which do YOU prefer? The color version has noticable discrepancies. John's outfit is supposed to be black throughout the film. It changes from black to blue. The black & white version shows no changes in color. The "old film" version almost looks like it predates the recording. I like the B&W version because it represents the age in Beatles history when the song was recorded (back when John, Paul, and George were members of The Quarrymen in 1958.) Vote for the version you think fits best with the quality of the recording. The color effect with the most votes will be on the DVD. The second best will be posted HERE....maybe. Eventually. Voting ends on October 20, 2012). *************** *****UPDATED OCTOBER 21, 2012*********** ***** Black and White version wins! |
