It chronicled the missions of a team of secret American government agents known as the Impossible Missions Force (IMF). The leader of the team was Jim Phelps, played by Peter Graves, except in the first season, during which the leader was Dan Briggs, played by Steven Hill. A hallmark of the series shows Phelps receiving his instructions on a tape that then self destructs, accompanied by the iconic theme music composed by Lalo Schifrin. The series aired on the CBS network from September 1966 to March 1973. It returned to television, as a revival, for two seasons on ABC, from 1988 to 1990 and later inspired a popular trio of theatrical motion pictures starring Tom Cruise and Ving Rhames in the 1990s and 2000s, with the role of Phelps played by Jon Voight. www.twitter.com /jungsungha

Wake me up when september ends - Sungha Jung

Add to EJ Playlist  Sungha Jung 2nd Album 'Irony' now availble at http://www.sung hajung.com Sungha http://www.sung hajung.com plays "Wake me up when September ends." arranged by Ulli Bögershausen. "Wake Me Up When September Ends" is a song by American rock band Green Day. It was released as the fourth single from their seventh album, American Idiot. The single peaked at number six in the United States, becoming Green Day's second Top 10 single. It also peaked at number eight in Canada and the UK, while making number thirteen in Australia. "Wake Me Up When September Ends" had sold 1,652,000 copies as of May 2010, and was the second highest selling single in the U.S. from American Idiot, behind only the multi-platinum "Boulevard of Broken Dreams". There was once much debate regarding the meaning of this song, one of the most common initial beliefs being that it was about the events of 9/11. In the liner notes, the song is dated September 10, and it is track 11 on the album. However, Billie Joe Armstrong has confirmed that the song was written as a memorial to his father, a jazz musician and truck driver, who died of esophageal cancer in 1982 when Armstrong was only ten years old.[2] In the live DVD Bullet in a Bible, Billie Joe started crying during the performance of the song. Billie stated, "I tried to fight it, but singing that song on stage and having 60,000 people singing it right back at you, it was just too overwhelming.

Wonderful Tonight - Sungha Jung

Add to EJ Playlist  Sungha Jung 2nd Album 'Irony' now availble at http://www.sung hajung.com Sungha http://www.sung hajung.com plays 'Wonderful Tonight' arranged by Masaaki Kishibe. "Wonderful Tonight" is a song written by Eric Clapton. It was included on Clapton's 1977 album Slowhand and released as a single the following year. Clapton wrote the song about Pattie Boyd, and it is mentioned in her autobiographica l book Wonderful Tonight: George Harrison, Eric Clapton, and Me. On 7 September 1976, Clapton wrote "Wonderful Tonight" for Boyd while waiting for her to get ready to attend Paul and Linda McCartney's annual Buddy Holly party. Of "Wonderful Tonight," Boyd would say: "For years it tore at me. To have inspired Eric, and George before him, to write such music was so flattering. 'Wonderful Tonight' was the most poignant reminder of all that was good in our relationship, and when things went wrong it was torture to hear it."[1] In 1988, Clapton appeared in the Nelson Mandela 70th Birthday Tribute concert as a guest guitarist for Dire Straits. The group became his backing musicians for a surprise performance of "Wonderful Tonight" during their set. The song appeared in a 2005 SBC commercial.

Add to EJ Playlist  Sungha Jung 2nd Album 'Irony' now availble at http://www.sung hajung.com Sungha http://www.sung hajung.com plays "Li*ving on a pr*ayer" arranged by Tomi Paldanius. "Livin' on a Prayer" is Bon Jovi's third single from their Slippery When Wet album. Written by Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora with Desmond Child, the single, released in late 1986, was well-received at both rock and pop radio and its music video was given heavy rotation at MTV, giving the band their first #1 on the Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. The single also became Bon Jovi's second consecutive #1 Hot 100 pop hit[1] and has become the band's signature song, topping fan-voted lists and re-charting around the world decades after its release. The album version of the song fades out at the end, with a song length of 4:10. However, the version playable on the music video games Guitar Hero World Tour & Rock Band 2 retains the original studio ending of the song, where the band revisit the intro riff and end with a talkbox solo. This version of the song ends at 4:53.

Blackbird - Sungha Jung

Add to EJ Playlist  Sungha Jung 2nd Album 'Irony' now availble at http://www.sung hajung.com Sungha http://www.sung hajung.com plays 'Blackbird' arranged by Stephen Bennett. "Blackbird" is a Beatles song from double-disc album The Beatles (also known as The White Album). Blackbird was written by Paul McCartney, but credited as usual to Lennon/McCartne y. McCartney explained on PBS's Great Performances (Paul McCartney: Chaos and Creation at Abbey Road), aired in 2006, that the guitar accompaniment for "Blackbird" was inspired by J.S. Bach's Bourrée in E minor, a well known lute piece, often played on the classical guitar. As kids, he and George Harrison tried to learn Bourrée as a "show off" piece. Bourrée is distinguished by melody and bass notes played simultaneously on the upper and lower strings. McCartney adapted a segment of Bourrée as the opening of "Blackbird," and carried the musical idea throughout the song. The first night his future wife Linda Eastman stayed at his home, McCartney played "Blackbird" for the fans camped outside his house.

California Dreaming - Sungha Jung

Add to EJ Playlist  Sungha Jung 2nd Album 'Irony' now availble at http://www.sung hajung.com Sungha http://www.sung hajung.com plays 'California Dreaming' arranged by Michael Chapdelaine. "California Dreamin'" is a popular song by The Mamas & the Papas, first released in 1965. The song is #89 in Rolling Stone's list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.[1] The lyrics of the song are about a man in a cold winter landscape longing for the warmth of California. According to John Phillips in a Bravo documentary, and Michelle Phillips in an NPR piece, the song was written in 1963 while they were living in New York. He dreamed about the song and woke her up to help him write it. At the time, the Phillipses were members of the folk group The New Journeymen which evolved into The Mamas & the Papas. www.twitter.com /jungsungha

Smells Like Tean Spirit - Sungha Jung

Add to EJ Playlist  Sungha Jung 2nd Album 'Irony' now availble at http://www.sung hajung.com Sungha http://www.sung hajung.com plays "Smells like teen spirit" arranged by Eric Roche. "Smells Like Teen Spirit" is a song by the American rock band Nirvana. It is the opening track and lead single from the band's second album, Nevermind (1991), released on DGC Records. Written by Kurt Cobain, Krist Novoselic, and Dave Grohl and produced by Butch Vig, the song uses a verse-chorus form where the main four-chord riff is used during the intro and chorus to create an alternating loud and quiet dynamic. This song with its slurred words but catchy chorus made the band famous over night. The unexpected success of "Smells Like Teen Spirit" in late 1991 propelled Nevermind to the top of the charts at the start of 1992, an event often marked as the point where alternative rock entered the mainstream.[1] "Smells Like Teen Spirit" was Nirvana's first and biggest hit, reaching number six on the Billboard Hot 100 and placing high on music industry charts all around the world in 1991 and 1992. "Smells Like Teen Spirit" received many critical plaudits, including topping the Village Voice Pazz & Jop critics' poll and winning two MTV Video Music Awards for its music video, which was in heavy rotation on music television. The song was dubbed an "anthem for apathetic kids" of Generation X,[2][3] but the band grew uncomfortable with the success and attention it received as a result. In the years since Cobain's death, listeners and critics have continued to praise "Smells Like Teen Spirit" as one of the greatest rock songs of all time. www.twitter.com /jungsungha

Africa - Sungha Jung

Add to EJ Playlist  Sungha Jung 2nd Album 'Irony' now availble at http://www.sung hajung.com Sungha http://www.sung hajung.com plays 'Africa' arranged by Andy Mckee. "Africa" is a song by rock band Toto. The song was included on their 1982 album Toto IV, and reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in February 1983 and number three on the UK Singles Chart the same month. The song was written by the band's keyboardist David Paich and drummer Jeff Porcaro. David Paich sings both verses of the song while Bobby Kimball sings lead briefly during the chorus and at the end. Steve Lukather, Bobby and Paich all sing backup as well. One of Toto's most recognisable songs, "Africa" was almost omitted from the Toto IV record prior to its release. Having spent a great amount of time producing it, the band became so tired of the song that they didn't want it on the album. The song itself was very different from anything the band had done before, and some members felt that it didn't sound like Toto. "I didn't think it was very good," said Steve Lukather (Classic Rock Revisited, 2003). "That tells you what can happen when we pick our own singles!" David Paich, who co-wrote the song with Jeff Porcaro, said that it "could have been the beginning of a solo project [for me] because it was so different. I thought I'd save it...[because] world music wasn't around then."
