This is a much improved re-working of an earlier video - in HD and widescreen. I have added additional annotations, scrolling notation, and clear keyboard view. As always, the video is free to download from my website - http://www.bushgrafts.com and on my DVD are a printable copy of the notation. (details on my website)

Jazzwayze: I still don't know how you get your hands working separately but at the right time! Beats me. When I was a kid, I tried for ten years and in the end I gave up and bought a guitar. Not much less of a problem; and I still haven't got far with that. But I can listen and dream I guess Doug. Thanks. JW
jazz2511: It is quite possible that the chord I played there is a 'fudge - in the flurry of improvisation, I make quite a few poor decisions'! However, if you concentrate on the red dots on the keyboard display, you will see that the chord is G,Bb,C,C#,F (7,b9,#9,3,b13) - this adds the flat nine to the A7alt chord on beat 1 (G,C,C#,F) which is also an altered chord (7,#9,3,b13). I am afraid that the notation is sometimes quite difficult to figure. When in doubt, check the keyboard display.
robertgloverjr: I have spent the last 30 minutes trying to figure out the chords you used in left hand of bar 46. On first beat it is G, C#, F; Second bar is so hard to figure out. Could it be G, Bb, C#, F? Or is that 2nd beat G, Bb, C F? Trying to figure out what harmonic purpose that 2nd beat has. Could it be a transitional chord between the A7 alt and the D7 Alt? Or is it a mixture of those 2 chords mashed into one chord? (i.e., G, B, C, C#, F)?. I hate to just fudge that chord without understanding it
robertgloverjr: Your arrangements get better and better, the more times I study them. You are the JS Bach of Jazz piano. I watched a KhanAcademy video on mathematics, then watched an AccountingTutor video on accounting, and then at 7am listened yet again to your amazing rendition of "Squeeze Me". With my mind pre-activated in this way, your genius (superlatives are beginning to seem like the only way to describe your playing) really stands out as head and shoulders above what today passes for music. Bravo!
robertgloverjr: I enjoy your work so much. I printed out your transcription of this song. It takes some work sometimes to ferret out the chord, but well worth it. For example bar 30, that D7b9 looks at first glance like you wrote an "e" natural, but with a closer look there a flat sign masked by the sharp sign. Similarly in bar 17 it takes a while to realize the Ab on that Ddim chord is masked by the natural sign. Another thing I'm realizing is your split of left/right hand differs from the sheet music.
robertgloverjr: Excellent model of many important techniques. I just added it to my "favorites". The jazz world is a much better place with your excellent tutorials in it to provide first class instruction. Mere thanks are insufficient, but it's all I have to offer. So, Thank you!!!
joeholtsnotes: This has to be my new favorite, Doug. Smooth and relaxed, yet sophisticated and authoritative (unlike much of the stride playing you see these days). Much like solo Shearing (do you have that album? It's kind of unbelievable). Thanks for making my day happy!
StrideBatty76: Great, love it!
Adriano Perticone: beautiful armonies master!
7notemode: Great tutorial, Doug!
johannputensen: i just love your videos...WONDERFUL!!!!
GutpileCharlie: Thank you Doug. That was so easy, relaxed ....and dignified. As compared with the way I sometimes try to play things, my wife said "look! it doesn't sound like he's kill'n snakes!" :-)
