djeboe: nah perry is doing what Porl used to do on this song, playing the duplicate bassline... while robert plays the leadline, which on In Orange he did on guitar, but on here is doing on VI as well. Just Porl is playing the extra guitar here.. I'd rather it have these guitars than be all synth wimpy. I prefer things to keep similar to the album version in instrumentation, such as hating keys on Killing an Arab or 10.15 saturday night...
Paul Jones: Thye could have binned off Perry's guitar parts in this song and re-introduced the subtle keyboards they used to have for this song when Perry first graduated into the band (like at Glastonbury 90 and the Garden Party gig) . I think Robert was in more of a guitar frame of mind throughout the Wish era though.
monica2505: from disintegration tour 1989? or wish tour?
spondylos: POOOOOOOOOORL!
Daveyraveygravey: Wow! This song alone make Show an essential purchase - and a couple of video players to play it on! Robert is fantastic, as are the rest of the band. I just wish we could see better what Simon is doing.
ACERAMGAD: I can dig it cos I dug it!)))
greyagain: yeah i agree with you!
ajittffcure: Actually, Perry is playing the parts that Robert played on the actual record (original record). Robert is playing additional notes and extended solos over here.
omgitsrob111: Youre right, simon was using a bass, Robert and Perry were both using baritone guitars, or a six-string bass. I cant quite hear Perry's playing, I know what Robert and Simon are doing though. Maybe he was jsut playing so he didnt have to sit doing nothing in a song with no keyboards :)
dav67820000: no, the " show " (with lowers)
Higher Love: they play 'Primary' during 4play but I think Simon is a bit older so I think they don't want have dead bassist during the performance of this song.Just watch the end of this clip and you will understand. Robert had a laugh with his old friend especially playing 'extended' solo;)))
Higher Love: I feel respect for Jason-current Cure drummer but Boris is still my number one drummer in this band.
ajittffcure: Please correct me if I am wrong but there were three bassists on this live version- Simon, Perry and Robert! I am absolutely blown away by this performance! I wish they play the song in the same tempo during the present tour. I saw them in Wembley, this year and they played this song. It was really good but it doesn't quite come near this outstanding version! All those who saw them during the Wish tour or even earlier were really lucky.
omgitsrob111: The "Show" VHS.
dav67820000: oh Boy's don´t cry‼
omgitsrob111: Haha, Boris laughing at simon for nearly dying of exhaustion XD Cant blame him, everytime I play this song on bass my hand gets sooooo tired :)
