This documentary is made by filmmaker David Grubin and narrated by Richard Gere. It tells the story of the Buddha's life, a journey especially relevant to our own bewildering times of violent change and spiritual confusion. It features the work of some of the world's greatest artists and sculptors, who across two millennia, have depicted the Buddha's life in art rich in beauty and complexity. Hear insights into the ancient narrative by contemporary Buddhists, including Pulitzer Prize winning poet W.S. Merwin and His Holiness the Dalai Lama. This documantary is brought to you by http://www.comethailand.com.

Wage Dharma: Buddha is a title not a name, before his enlightenment he was referred simply as Siddhartha. Buddha means Awakened One, the Buddha simply saw things as they are beyond like and dislike, beyond duality and beyond distinction. The goal of Buddhism is NOT to make Buddhists but to become Buddhas ourselves. The problem is supernaturalism has infected Buddhism to the point where many regard the Buddha as a supernatural being rather than an ordinary being who realized the extraordinary.
Robert Buddysta: Great movie, Buddhism is so wonderful!
koko koo: He was born just like u n me. Not from side of body... Myanmar. Burma
gato123452: i Always wondered why Christianity and Islam always Criticize anything that doesn't apply to their moral standards, it get's people very angry and annoyed ,why some of them do this.?

SaggiiG: oh! how fool a person can be ... ahahha laughs at you .. Nepal never was referred as india, never is and never will.. We have always been an independent country ... thank you
nitesh tiwari: there is no knowledge without any sacrifice my friend

rweerakkody4565: Mara is Satan.
KMarr07: he cares about ants in a field but not his son?
KMarr07: sounds like a myth to me. it's kind of sweet, except abandoning your wife, son and parents. i guess he will have to have another life to learn you don't abandon your family. mostly your son. your truth came from the pain of loosing your mother at a youg age, but yet you abandon your son? explain please!
Personmr: self correction: was supposed to be.
Personmr: i think mara is more of a symbol than a living being.
Personmr: don't understand or have our own ideas* about what was said. then theres the lack of the ability to read which is a big opening for abuse for people who can. thanks for reading my rant. I may rant more later. *not that thats a bad thing; im just saying thats one reason it would be hard to understand a message
Personmr: (if you don't care about my opinion dont read this) the biggest flaw with any religion is that to survive it needs to defend itself from violence, and the only way to protect itself is to use violance. the result is the more aggressive religions gain power (being derived from unethical yet effective ideology/practaces) while the ones with consern for others have a hard time surviving. not to mention alot of our teachers dont have things writen down as they say them. THEN we as imperfect beings..
Personmr: he's trolling, he's probably not even christian
sitbc: And for the record... Buddha didn't want followers, he wanted colleagues to help to liberate all sentient beings from suffering. And he clearly said when he died: Don't believe anything I said just because a buddha told you, but check it all yourself. Be your own guiding lights.
nsayaseng100: We all must respect one another ..my opinion...
