Everyone in the world loves soccer besides Americans, they said. People need to wake the fuck up. Soccer, or futbol, as it SHOULD be called, is evolving in the states. I love it. How can you hate it? chiodoce: In the last Olympics Great Britain had more athletes than the United States AND China. GB had 541, USA 530, China 380. China *still* beat Great Britain in the general medal count AND gold medal count, even with less athletes. So the claim that you "would've severely beaten" the US if you had the same amount of people as us is false. You had virtually the same amount of people as we did and still lost on both fronts. US may not be "the best", but GB sure as hell isn't either.

Lol, in the general medal count the U.S. had 104 vs. Great Britain's 65. In the gold medal count U.S. had 46 vs. Great Britain's 29. In both cases Great Britain wasn't even in SECOND place, China was. Have a seat, StrictlyBodacious.

CaIIOfTheWild: The statistic that America won golds proves that they are the best in the world at something, not everything. That's the problem with making a statement filled with bias like yours, it's easy to disprove. I never said America is the best, or better than England. They're clearly not better at Soccer, or some other things, but they are the best in the world at basketball. That's the problem with nationalism, it leads to people overestimating their own country, and underestimating others.

CaIIOfTheWild: Actually the fact that America hasn't won in soccer helps make my point. I've never argued that they have, or that they're really good at soccer, quite the contrary. The fact is the #1 sport in America is a sport that most of the rest of the world doesn't care about. Soccer is well behind our version of football, basketball, and baseball here, so our best athletes just don't play that sport as much. Thus, I expect them to get beat by lots of other countries that have soccer as their #1 sport

I can choose not to resort to personal attacks though, or thinking that America is better than the rest of the world (it isn't).
